Joey Musaphia

Joey Musaphia is a Producer, DJ and Remixer but also known as the label owner of Refunkt Records and Refunkt Trax which have been releasing quality house music from 2001 to present. He previously ran and owned Ulterior Records with his 2 Deep Production partner Gerald Elms, also known as G-Club. Joey left high school and attended the School Of Audio Engineering (SAE) in London from 1988 to 1989. Whilst studying he was DJ'ing at various bars and clubs as well as entering the DMC Mixing Championships. Using free studio time given at SAE Joey starting producing tracks, one of which was signed to Cooltempo, EMI by Simon Dunmore under the guise Taste Of Paradise. Following this Joey began releasing tracks under various pseudonyms, one of which being the infamous Cover Ups EP's. A string of remixes ensued while at the same time starting his label Ulterior Records. Releases from the likes of Roger Sanchez, Michael Watford, Carol Leeming and more followed. Moving forward Joey launched Refunkt Records which as well as his own productions featured releases from Hardsoul, Michelle Weeks, Lisa Millett, Sabrynaah Pope, Joy Malcolm, Martin Ikin and Rita Campbell.
